How To Disband and Delete an Entire Group Chat in Viber App

Viber is a popular messaging and calling app available for iOS, Android, and desktop. It allows you to create group chats with up to 250 participants. However, over time you may wish to delete a group chat entirely. Here are the steps to disband and delete a group chat in Viber:

Disbanding a Group Chat

Disbanding a group chat removes all participants except you. To disband a group chat:

  1. Open the group chat you wish to disband
  2. Tap on the group name at the top of the chat window
  3. Tap on “Group Info”
  4. Scroll down and tap on “Disband Chat”
  5. Confirm by tapping “Disband”

This will instantly remove all participants from the group chat except you. The chat will still exist, but it will now be an empty 1-person chat.

Deleting a Group Chat

To completely delete a chat:

  1. Open the disbanded group chat
  2. Tap on the group name
  3. Tap on the 3 dots icon in the top-right corner
  4. Tap on “Delete and Exit”
  5. Confirm the deletion

The chat will now be permanently deleted for you and all other previous participants.

Note:

  • Disbanding a chat removes users instantly without warning them
  • When you delete a disbanded chat, it is also deleted from the chat history of all other previous participants
  • You can only delete a chat if there is just 1 participant left (yourself)
  • Deleting a chat permanently erases the chat history and media

Alternative Ways to Leave a Group Chat

If you don’t wish to disband or delete an entire group chat, here are some other options:

  • Simply exit the group chat by tapping “Exit group” in group info
  • Mute notifications from the group chat so you don’t receive messages
  • Block users who constantly disturb you in group chats
