How to Control Nest Fan with Google Home App

The Nest thermostat allows you to control your home’s HVAC system conveniently through the Google Home app. One useful feature is the ability to turn on your fan manually or set a schedule. Here is a guide on how to control your Nest fan with the Google Home app.

Turn Fan On Manually

You can easily turn on your Nest fan for a set duration through the Google Home app:

  1. Open the Google Home app on your phone.
  2. Tap on your Nest thermostat.
  3. Tap on the “Fan” icon.
  4. Select the duration you want the fan to run – 15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours or 12 hours.
  5. Tap “Start”.

The fan will now run for the selected duration and automatically turn off afterwards.

Set a Fan Schedule

You can also set a daily fan schedule to circulate air:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap on your Nest thermostat > Settings (gear icon) > Fan Schedule.
  3. Tap “Add schedule”.
  4. Set the start and end time for when you want the fan to run each day.
  5. Tap “Done”.

The schedule is now set and your fan will run daily during the scheduled hours. You can add multiple schedules if needed.

Change Fan Speed

If your HVAC system has a multi-speed fan, you can change the speed in the Google Home app:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap on your Nest thermostat > Settings (gear icon).
  3. Tap “Fan”> “HVAC Fan Speed”.
  4. Select the speed you want – Low, Medium or High.

In addition to manual controls, you can use Google Assistant voice commands to control your Nest fan if you have a Google Home speaker or display:

  • “Hey Google, set the thermostat fan to high”
  • “Hey Google, set a thermostat fan schedule from 2pm to 8pm daily”
