How to Play Fortnite on Your Chromebook

Fortnite is one of the most popular video games in the world. With its free-to-play Battle Royale mode, engaging gameplay, and frequent updates, it’s easy to see why Fortnite has become such a phenomenon.

While Fortnite is available on most platforms like PCs, gaming consoles, and mobile devices, Chromebooks have traditionally not been able to run the game. However, thanks to recent developments like cloud gaming services and Android app support on Chrome OS, playing Fortnite on a Chromebook is now possible.

Using Cloud Gaming Services

The easiest way to play Fortnite on a Chromebook is through cloud gaming services like Nvidia GeForce Now, Xbox Cloud Gaming, or Amazon Luna. These services allow you to stream Fortnite over the internet to your device.

Nvidia GeForce Now

GeForce Now is Nvidia’s cloud gaming service. To use it:

  1. Go to https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce-now/ on your Chromebook
  2. Create an Nvidia account or sign in
  3. Install the GeForce Now Chrome extension

Amazon Luna

Amazon’s cloud gaming platform also lets you play Fortnite. Go to amazon.com/luna to sign up and connect a compatible controller. Like Xbox Cloud Gaming, a subscription is needed after an introductory period.

Sideloading the Android Version

Fortnite has an Android version that you can try sideloading onto your Chromebook.

Sideloading means manually installing an app instead of downloading it from the Play Store. This involves enabling a developer mode to allow app installs from unknown sources.

Here are the steps:

  1. Turn on developer mode and enable Android app support on your Chromebook
  2. Download the Fortnite Android APK from epicgames.com/fortnite/en-US/mobile/android/get-started
  3. Open the APK file to trigger the installation
  4. Fortnite should now be installed and ready to play!

Note: Sideloading Fortnite may not work properly on all Chromebooks. Your device needs an ARM processor with at least 4GB of RAM and Chrome OS 64-bit. Performance and compatibility issues can occur.

If the above options don’t work or provide a subpar experience on your Chromebook, you can use remote desktop software to stream Fortnite from another computer.

The steps would be:
