How to See How Many Hours Played on PS4

The PlayStation 4 has a feature that allows you to see how many hours you’ve played on each of your games. This can be useful to see which games you’ve spent the most time on and track your gameplay hours over time.

Check Hours Played on Profile

The quickest way to see your total hours played across all games is to check your profile. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Settings menu from your PS4 home screen
  2. Select “Profile”
  3. Select “Games”
  4. The total number of hours played on your account will be displayed at the top

This shows your accumulated gameplay for all games combined since you created your account.

Check Hours for Individual Games

To see the play time broken down for each individual game:

  1. Highlight the game on your PS4 home screen and press the Options button
  2. Select “Information”
  3. The hours played specifically for that game save file will be shown

This is useful for seeing how much time you’ve put into a certain title.

View Trophies

Another way to get a rough estimate of hours played is to look at trophies earned. This won’t be exact, but can give you a ballpark figure:

  1. Go to Trophies on the PS4 home screen
  2. Select a game
  3. Scroll down to see details on each trophy, including the date it was unlocked
  4. Getting a sense of when you earned certain trophies can indicate how long you’ve played over what duration

Of course this only works if you have earned trophies in the game – if you haven’t unlocked any then this method won’t help.

Check PlayStation Mobile App

You can also use the PlayStation mobile app to check your gameplay stats:

  1. Download the PlayStation App and sign in to your PlayStation Network account
  2. Tap on your profile picture
  3. Select “Games” to see your recently played titles
  4. Tap on any game to see more detailed play activity, including total time played

The mobile app provides an easy way to check this info on the go from your smartphone.

Set Up Play Time Restrictions

If you or your kids tend to overdo it with gaming sessions, you can set up restrictions on play time. To enable this:

  1. Go to Settings > Parental Controls/Family Management
  2. Select the user account you want to set limits for
  3. Choose “Play Time Settings”
  4. Check the box for “Enable Play Time Restrictions”
  5. Set the total amount per day and week for gameplay limits

With this enabled, you’ll get notifications when the time limits are reached.

Why Track Gameplay Hours?

There are a few reasons why tracking gameplay hours can be useful:

  • Identifying games that you enjoy and get the most replay value from
  • Noticing patterns, like what times of day you play games the most
  • Setting challenges, like achieving a certain number of hours played in a game
  • Preventing burnout by seeing when your usage is excessive
  • Helping make decisions about buying games based on typical play hours

Monitoring your gameplay over time ultimately helps provide insights into your gaming habits and preferences.
