How to Add Alt Text to an Picture in Canva

Hi. In this video, I'm going to show you on how you can add alt text or alternative text to a picture in Canva

So alternative text is usually very useful to describe the picture and this kind of text or information is mainly used by people with imperfissions that they cannot see the picture and they just want to get a description of the picture

And also sometimes it is useful to get that information, especially if you want to publish the image to the

internet because search engines usually likes images with a descriptive alt text anyway here's how you

can add alt text to kanva sorry the picture in kanva so first you have to insert a picture to your

canvas document and after that right click on the picture click alternative text and then here you can

let say you can describe what is in the picture let say it no we found content it is pretty good but sometimes you might want to be you might want to get a bit more descriptive and fortunately there is an option to suggest the description of the image using the power of AI just click on it

and confide will generate this description based on the picture it is a bit better than I suggested

so I'm going to click save and that's exactly how I can do it but there is one thing to remember here

While you can add alternative text to a picture, you cannot do that to a picture that is used as a background image

This is actually the same picture, but as you can see when you right click on it, there is no option to add the alt text

Because this picture is now used as a background. If you want to add alt text to the background, you can right click on it, click Detach Image from the background

and later you can add the alt text, and then when you're done with it, you can

I put that picture back as a background and the image will have the description or the alt text ready
