How to Add and Import Photos and Pictures Into TikTok Video Editor

TikTok has become one of the most popular social media platforms for creating and sharing short video clips. With its easy-to-use video editor, anyone can make creative videos by adding effects, music, text, and more. One common question many TikTok users have is how to add photos and pictures to their TikTok videos.

In this comprehensive guide, I will walk you through two effective methods to add and import photos into the TikTok video editor, along with tips to optimize your images.

Method 1: Add Photos Using TikTok Effects

The easiest way to add a photo to your TikTok video is by using the Effects tool:

Step 1: Record Your Video

Open the TikTok app and tap the plus (+) icon to record a new video. You can record up to 60 seconds. Once finished, tap Next.

Step 2: Add Photo Effect

Next, tap on Effects at the bottom and search for “Insert Photo”. Select the effect.

Step 3: Choose Your Photo

You will then need to choose a photo from your camera roll to insert. Tap on the photo icon and select the image you want to use.

Step 4: Position and Resize the Photo

Drag the corners of the photo to resize it as needed. Hold down and drag the photo to position it where desired in the frame.

Step 5: Add More Effects (Optional)

Now you can add more effects like filters, text, stickers before posting your TikTok video. Tap Next when you’re done.

Method 2: Import Photos from Camera Roll

You can also directly import multiple photos from your camera roll instead of video clips:

Step 1: Tap the Upload Icon

Hit the upload icon (a horizontal line with a curved arrow) at the bottom right.

Step 2: Select Images

Go to the Images tab and tap on the photos you want to add to the video. Choose at least 2 images for the app to automatically create a slideshow.

Step 3: Edit the Slideshow

You can rearrange, delete or add more images. Tap on the timer icon to adjust display duration of each photo.

Step 4: Add Music, Effects, Text

Enhance your photo slideshow further by adding background music, filters, text captions or stickers.

Step 5: Post Your TikTok

Review your photo TikTok and make final edits if needed. Tap Post once you are satisfied.

Tips for Adding Photos to TikTok Videos

When importing photos into TikTok, keep these tips in mind:

  • Use High-Quality Images: Well-lit, high-resolution photos will look best. Avoid blurry pics.
  • Try Different Aspect Ratios: You can add pics taller or wider than the video frame. Get creative!
  • Check Image Sizes: Small files upload faster. But very small images will look pixelated. Find the right balance.
  • Use Photo Editing Apps: Edit or enhance images before uploading using apps like Snapseed.
  • Add Animation: Use the Ken Burns effect to add movement by zooming and panning still photos.

Share Your Photo TikToks

Once posted, your photo TikToks will be available on your profile page and the For You feed for others to view, like and share.

Use relevant hashtags so your videos are discoverable by people searching those tags. Engage with your audience by responding to comments.

Most importantly, have fun expressing your creativity with photos and videos on TikTok!
