How to Connect to Wi-Fi on a Samsung TV

Connecting your Samsung TV to your Wi-Fi network allows you to access internet-based features like streaming services, web browsing, and apps. With just a few steps, you can get your TV connected and start enjoying everything it has to offer.

Check Your Wi-Fi Information

Before connecting, you’ll want to make sure you have the following Wi-Fi details:

  • Network Name (SSID) – The name of your Wi-Fi network. This is also called the SSID.
  • Password – The password needed to access your Wi-Fi network. Make sure it’s the correct password.
  • Security Type – The type of security your network uses, such as WPA2.

You can find these details by checking your Wi-Fi router admin interface.

Access the Network Settings

To connect to Wi-Fi, you first need to access your TV’s network settings:

  1. Turn on your TV and grab the remote control.
  2. Press the Home button to access the Smart Hub.
  3. Use the directional pad to select Settings.
  4. Select General and then Network.
  5. Choose Open Network Settings.

This will display the available Wi-Fi networks.

Select Your Wi-Fi Network

From the list of available networks, select the name (SSID) of your Wi-Fi network.

Note: Some older Samsung TV models only support 2.4GHz networks. If you don’t see your 5GHz network, check if your router broadcasts a 2.4GHz network as well.

Enter the Password

If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi password for your network. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the password carefully and accurately.

When finished, select Done.

Confirm the Connection

Your TV will now attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Once connected, you should see a “Connected to Internet” message. Select OK to confirm.

Tip: If the connection fails or your Wi-Fi network doesn’t show up, you may need to move your Wi-Fi router closer to your TV or troubleshoot other connectivity issues.

Connect to a Hidden Network

If your Wi-Fi network is hidden and doesn’t broadcast its name (SSID), you’ll need to manually add the network:

  1. Go to Open Network Settings
  2. Select Add Network at the bottom of the list
  3. Enter your network name (SSID)
  4. Select the security type and enter the password
  5. Select Done when finished

Your TV will connect to the hidden network.

Set Up a Wired Connection

Alternatively, you can use an Ethernet cable to connect your Samsung TV to your router or modem for a reliable wired internet connection:

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable to your TV’s LAN port
  2. Connect the other end to your router/modem
  3. Go to Settings > General > Network
  4. Select Open Network Settings
  5. Choose Wired
  6. Select OK to connect

Enjoy Your Connected TV

Once connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet, you can now use internet-based apps like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and more!

Stream movies, browse the web, video chat with friends and much more. Enjoy your Samsung TV even more with seamless wireless connectivity!
