How to Delete and Remove Addresses from Waze Navigation App

Waze is a popular GPS navigation app that provides turn-by-turn driving directions, traffic information, and route optimization based on real-time user reports. Over time, you may accumulate saved addresses, favorites, home and work locations, recent searches, etc. that you want to delete from Waze for privacy or clutter reasons.

Here are the steps to delete various types of addresses from the Waze app:

Delete Recent Searches

Waze saves your recent searches and destinations to make re-navigation easier. To delete individual recent searches:

  • Open the Waze app
  • Tap the search bar at the top
  • Scroll down below the search bar to see your recent searches
  • Tap the three-dot menu next to any search
  • Tap “Remove” to delete that recent search

This will remove that search from your recent searches on your device, but it may still show up on other devices signed into your Waze account.

Remove Saved Favorites

Favorites in Waze are addresses you have purposefully saved for quick access later. To remove saved favorites:

  • Open the Waze app
  • Tap the search bar at the top
  • Tap “Saved” below the search bar
  • Tap the three-dot menu next to any saved favorite
  • Tap “Remove” to delete that favorite

Change Home and Work Address

Your home and work addresses get special status in Waze for quick access. To change these addresses:

  • Open the Waze app
  • Tap your profile icon in the top left
  • Tap “Home and Work”
  • Tap “Home” or “Work” to edit
  • Enter new address and tap to set as home or work

Delete Navigation History

Your previous drives and destinations get saved to your navigation history. To delete specific items:

  • Open the Waze app
  • Swipe up from the bottom to open the menu
  • Tap “My Waze”
  • Tap “Navigation History”
  • Tap the three-dot menu next to any drive
  • Tap “Delete” to remove that drive

You can also tap “Delete all” at the top to wipe your entire Waze navigation history.

Remove Place Reports

If you have reported any residential or business places on the Waze map that you want deleted:

  • Open the Waze app
  • Tap the search bar
  • Search for the place name
  • Tap the result to open the location’s info
  • Tap the three-dot menu at the top right
  • Tap “Delete” to remove your report

Delete Saved Places

Similar to favorites, you may have also saved other useful places for quick access:

  • Open the Waze app
  • Tap the search bar
  • Tap “Saved”
  • Tap the three-dot menu next to any saved place
  • Tap “Remove” to delete that place

Fully Reset Waze

If you want to completely wipe all personalized data from Waze and reset it to factory default:

  • Open the Waze app
  • Tap the profile icon
  • Scroll down and tap “Delete account”
  • Confirm deletion

This will sign you out and remove all saved places, favorites, history, etc. from your device and Waze account. You can then sign back in or create a new account if desired.

Precautions When Deleting Addresses

  • Deleted addresses may still show up on other devices signed into your Waze account until you sign out from those devices.
  • Removing an address from your device only deletes it locally. For full removal, also delete items from your Waze account online.
  • Fully resetting Waze signs you out everywhere, so you’ll have to re-add addresses if you sign back in.

Be careful when deleting addresses or resetting Waze, as you may lose data you want to keep. Review your saved data before removing items.

Tips for Managing Waze Addresses

  • Periodically review saved places and remove old addresses you no longer need.
  • Mark home and work addresses as private to avoid sharing that data.
  • Turn off Waze’s location history setting if you don’t want your drives recorded.
  • Use anonymous mode if you don’t want addresses associated with your account.

Properly managing the addresses stored in Waze gives you control over your privacy while keeping the app clutter-free and fast. Follow the steps above to delete any addresses from Waze that you no longer need.
