Accessing and Changing the Watch Face on Your Garmin
Changing the watch face on your Garmin is easy to do directly on your watch:
- On a 5-button Garmin watch (like a Forerunner or Fenix series):
- Hold the UP button to access the controls menu
- Select “Watch Face”
- Scroll through the options using UP/DOWN buttons
- Select a watch face and tap to select it
- Choose “Apply” to set it as your active watch face
- On a 2-button Garmin watch (like a Vivoactive series):
- Hold the bottom/back button to access the controls menu
- Select “Watch Face”
- Scroll through the options using the buttons
- Select a watch face and tap to select it
- Choose “Apply” to set it as your active watch face
You can also customize the data fields and appearance of existing watch faces by selecting “Customize” after choosing a face.
Downloading New Watch Faces from Garmin Connect IQ
The Garmin Connect IQ store offers thousands of free and paid watch faces to further customize your Garmin watch:
- Download the Garmin Connect IQ app on your smartphone
- Select your Garmin watch
- Tap “Search” and choose “Watch Faces”
- Browse and select a watch face you like
- Tap “Install” to send to your watch
Newly downloaded watch faces will now appear as options when you view watch faces directly on your Garmin watch.
Creating a Custom Watch Face
You can create a custom watch face with your own photo background using the “Face It” watch face builder in the Connect IQ app:
- In Connect IQ, select your Garmin watch
- Scroll down and choose “Face It”
- Select a background photo from your phone
- Customize colors and data fields
- Tap “Done” when finished
- Name and save your custom watch face
- Tap “Install” to transfer to your Garmin watch
The custom watch face will now sync to your watch and be selectable like any other installed watch face.
