Facebook Memories, formerly known as “On This Day”, is a feature that shows you your posts, photos, videos, and interactions from the same day in previous years. It allows you to relive your memories and life events year after year.

The Memories feature is located on the left sidebar on desktop or in the “More” tab on mobile. It contains memories categorized into different sections:

  • On This Day: Shows your posts, photos, videos, and interactions from today’s date in previous years.
  • Friends Made on This Day: Shows friends you became connected with on this day in previous years.
  • Recaps of Memories: Monthly or seasonal recaps of your memories bundled into messages or short videos.
  • Memories You May Have Missed: Recent memories you may have missed from the past week.

  1. Go to and log into your account
  2. On the left sidebar, click on the “Memories” bookmark under “Explore”
  3. Scroll down to view memories from today’s date in previous years
  4. Click “See More” at the bottom to view memories from other dates

On Mobile

  1. Open the Facebook app and log into your account
  2. Tap the ≡ icon in the bottom right
  3. Scroll down and tap “Memories”
  4. Scroll down to view memories from today’s date in previous years

Once in the Memories tab, you can scroll down indefinitely to reminisce through your memories.

How to Replay and Share Memories

As you’re viewing your memories, you may come across some nostalgic moments you want to replay or share with friends. Here’s how:

  • Photos/Videos: Click on them to view the full-size image/video and replay. Click “Share” to share it in a new post.
  • Posts: Click the three dots next to the post date. Select “Share this memory” to share it in a new post.
  • Friends Made: Click into the “Friends Made on This Day” section. Select friends to message or share a memory about becoming friends.
  • Recaps: Click into the recap video/message. Select “Share” to post it as a new story.

Customizing Memory Notifications

If you want to change your memory notification settings:

  1. Go to

  3. Choose your preference: All Memories, Highlights, or None
