How to Delete and Remove Recent Chats History in Snapchat App

Snapchat is a popular messaging app that allows users to send photo and video messages that disappear after being viewed. While the disappearing messages feature gives Snapchat its charm, you may sometimes want to delete your Snapchat message history for privacy reasons.

Fortunately, Snapchat makes it easy to delete individual chats or your entire chat history if needed. Here are the steps to delete and remove recent chats on Snapchat:

Delete Individual Chats

To delete specific conversations in your Snapchat recent chats:

  1. Open the Snapchat app and tap on the chat icon in the top left corner
  2. This will bring up your recent chats – tap and hold on the chat you want to delete
  3. A popup menu will appear – tap on the trash icon to delete the chat
  4. Confirm that you want to delete the chat

Once deleted, the chat will disappear from your recent chats list.

Note: Deleting a chat only removes it from your view. The other person will still have the chat history if they haven’t deleted it on their end.

Clear Chat History

If you want to delete your entire Snapchat chat history:

  1. Go to your profile page in Snapchat
  2. Tap on the gear icon in the top-right to access settings
  3. Go to the Clear Conversations section
  4. Tap on Clear Conversations to delete your chat history

This will delete all one-on-one chats, group chats, and stories from your Snapchat history. The chats will still exist for any other participants.

Remove Friends from Best Friends List

Snapchat has a Best Friends feature that shows your top 3 friends based on how frequently you interact with them. To remove friends from this list:

  1. Go to your profile and tap on the smiley face icon next to your score
  2. This shows your Best Friends – tap on the three dots icon next to a friend’s name
  3. Select Remove to take them off your Best Friends list

While this won’t delete your chat history with that friend, it will remove them from the Best Friends spotlight.

Change Privacy Settings

You can also manage your Snapchat privacy settings to control who can see certain aspects of your profile and activity:

  • Who Can: Configure who can contact you directly, view your story, see your location on the map, etc.
  • See My Location: Choose whether to share your location on the map with all friends, some friends, or no one.
  • See Me In Quick Add: Decide if you want friends to be able to find you through phone contacts or Snapcodes.

Adjusting these settings can improve your privacy and limit how much chat history is visible about you.

Log Out on All Devices

As an extra precaution, you can log out of Snapchat on all devices to clear access and chat history:

  1. Go to your Snapchat profile
  2. Tap the gear icon and select Log Out
  3. Tap Log Out on All Devices

This will log you out of all mobile devices and computers. Anyone accessing your account will have to log back in.
