How to Disable and Turn Off Sim Aging in The Sims 4 Game
In The Sims 4, Sims age through different life stages, starting from babies all the way to elders. While this mimics real life, sometimes players want more control over the aging process for storytelling or gameplay purposes. Luckily, there are a couple ways to disable and turn off aging in The Sims 4.
Disable Aging in Game Options
The easiest way to turn off aging is through the game options:
- Open the menu by clicking the icon in the top right or pressing ESC
- Select “Game Options” then click on “Gameplay”
- Under “Auto Age (Played Sims)”, choose “Only Active Household” or “No”
- Uncheck the “Auto Age (Unplayed Sims)” box
This will stop aging for played and/or unplayed Sims depending on your selections. It acts as a pause, so when you re-enable aging, Sims will continue aging as if no time had passed.
Use Testing Cheats
Another method is using testing cheats:
- Press CTRL + Shift + C to open the cheat console
- Type
testingcheats true
and press enter - Shift + click your Sim and select “Trigger Age Transition”
- Choose “Disable/Pause Aging”
This is a more precise way to disable aging on individual Sims.
Additional Options
There are also a few other options to stop your Sims from aging:
- Drink from the Cowplant – Resets age to the start of current lifestage
- Potion of Youth – Resets age, costs Satisfaction Points
- Vampirism – Vampire Sims do not age
- Mods – Mods like MCCC allow advanced aging control
Considerations
Before disabling aging, consider that:
- Story progression will be limited without aging
- Can enable aging again at any time without penalty
- May want to only pause aging for active household
- Occult life states like vampires do not age
Disabling aging gives you more control over your Sims’ lives. Use the game options to pause aging indefinitely, or use cheats and potions for precision aging control.
