How to Get More Delivery Gigs and Orders on DoorDash Drive Platform

As an experienced DoorDash Drive delivery driver, I want to share some tips on how to get more delivery gigs and orders when using the DoorDash Drive platform.

What is DoorDash Drive?

DoorDash Drive is DoorDash’s white-label delivery solution that allows merchants to offer delivery from their own websites by tapping into DoorDash’s network of drivers, called Dashers. With DoorDash Drive:

  • Merchants can request a Dasher anytime to fulfill delivery orders from their website or app
  • Merchants pay a flat fee per order to DoorDash and don’t have to worry about delivery logistics and costs
  • Orders flow directly into the merchant’s POS system for easy order management
  • Merchants can track deliveries in real-time and get data-driven insights about customers and orders

Why Deliver with DoorDash Drive?

As a delivery driver, there are several benefits to delivering orders through DoorDash Drive:

  • Steady volume of deliveries: DoorDash Drive partners tend to have a consistent flow of delivery orders, which means more opportunities for drivers
  • Shorter distances: Many DoorDash Drive merchants are local restaurants and shops, so delivery distances tend to be shorter
  • Better tips: Customers ordering directly from a restaurant they like tend to tip more generously
  • Reputable merchants: DoorDash screens and selects reputable local merchants to partner with, ensuring good experiences for drivers
  • Safe deliveries: Delivering for established local merchants can often feel safer than delivering to strangers’ homes

Tips to Get More DoorDash Drive Gigs

Here are my top tips for getting more gigs and orders as a DoorDash Drive delivery driver:

1. Apply for Drive orders in the Dasher app

  • Open your Dasher app and go to “More” -> “Drive Orders” to apply for access to Drive orders
  • Having access to Drive means you’ll start seeing merchant requested Drive orders in your app to accept or decline

2. Position yourself near Drive merchant locations

  • Drive orders only go to Dashers who are located close enough to the merchant at the time the order is placed
  • Being actively on-shift near Drive merchant stores gives you first dibs on incoming orders

3. Provide excellent service on your Drive deliveries

  • Merchants can rate Dashers who fulfill Drive orders from their store
  • Providing great service ensures you’ll continue being offered orders from that merchant

4. Check Drive order volume in your area

  • Areas with higher populations and more restaurants tend to have more Drive delivery opportunities
  • Scope out neighboring regions to find zones with the most Drive merchant demand

5. Ask merchants about getting set up with Drive

  • If you notice a popular local spot doesn’t offer DoorDash Drive, inquire with the owner about getting enrolled
  • More Drive merchants means more delivery opportunities for Dashers like you

6. Drive during peak mealtimes

  • Just like regular DoorDash orders, Drive demand tends to spike around mealtimes: lunch, dinner, weekends
  • Dash when restaurants are busiest cooking meals to get more Drive delivery pings
