In The Sims 4, Sims experience a range of emotions that affect their behaviors, interactions, whims, and more. These emotions are caused by “moodlets” – temporary buffs and debuffs with specific emotional effects.
While positive moodlets like “Flirty” or “Inspired” can be fun, negative ones like “Embarrassed” or “Angry” can seriously impact your Sims’ quality of life. One of the most troublesome negative moodlets is Fear. Frightened Sims may refuse to leave the house, quit their jobs, or have emotional breakdowns.
Fortunately, there are several methods to get rid of fear and other negative emotional moodlets in The Sims 4.

Using In-Game Features
Buy the “Moodlet Solver” Reward
The easiest way to remove negative moodlets is to purchase the “Moodlet Solver” reward from the Satisfaction Store for 500 satisfaction points. When used, this potion will immediately remove all negative moodlets from the Sim who drinks it.
Raise Your Sim’s Confidence
Facing fears head-on becomes easier if your Sim has high confidence. Try using the “Psych Self Up” interaction in the mirror before sending your Sim outside at night or to complete another fear-inducing action.
You can also purchase Confident potions from the Satisfaction Store.
Purchase the “Fear-Be-Gone” Potion
Available for 300 satisfaction points, the “Fear-Be-Gone” potion permanently removes one specific fear from a Sim upon drinking it. Use it to get rid of pesky fears like the dark.
Travel to a New Lot
When all else fails, traveling to a new lot will remove all moodlets. This method works best for one-time situations versus permanent fears.
Using Mods
If you don’t mind using mods, install TwistedMexi’s All Cheats mod. This will let you right-click moodlets to delete them instantly. The UI Cheats Extension mod has the same functionality.
Preventing Fear
Keep Sims’ Needs High
Sims with maxed needs are less susceptible to negative emotional moodlets like fear. Make sure to regularly sleep, eat, shower, and socialize.
Purchase the “Carefree” Reward
Available for 3,000 satisfaction points, the “Carefree” reward trait will stop your Sims from becoming tense or fearful.
Live as a Vampire
Vampire Sims have high resistance to fear, likely because many of them possess the “Immortal” reward which prevents tense moodlets. Consider having your Sims become vampires if fear is a constant issue.
Summary
- Fix moodlets instantly with cheats like “Moodlet Solver” or mods.
- Raise confidence and travel to remove fears temporarily.
- Prevent fear by keeping needs high and using “Carefree.”
- Become a vampire for near-immunity to negative moodlets like fear.
With some strategic use of game features, mods, and preventative measures, you can keep your Sims happy and fear-free so they can focus on achieving their life goals versus hiding under the covers!
