Locating the Swamp Biome

Finding the Swamp can be challenging as Valheim’s world is procedurally generated, meaning each seed will have a unique map layout. Here are some tips for locating the Swamp:

  • Open your map and look for dark brown/black patches along coastlines or attached to other biomes. This indicates marshy swampland terrain.
  • Sail around islands until you spot the Swamp’s distinctive dead trees. They are tall, bare, and twisted with no leaves.
  • Swamps frequently border Black Forest biomes. Explore the coasts of Black Forest islands to increase your chances of discovering adjacent Swamps.
  • Use Valheim cheat codes like exploremap on PC to reveal the entire map, including Swamp locations.

  • Surtlings – Fiery creatures that emerge from the Swamp’s lava geysers.

  • Crypts – Underground tombs filled with valuable scrap iron. Guarded by enemies.

Make your trips worthwhile by collecting these valuable Swamp items:

  • Ancient Bark – Used to craft boats, carts, and other items. Harvest from swamp trees.
  • Scrap Iron – Vital for crafting iron weapons and gear. Mine in sunken crypts.
  • Guck – Sticky resin used to make armor. Harvest from trees.
  • Turnip Seeds – Plant these to grow health restoring turnips back at base.
  • Entrails – Used in sausages which provide stamina and health. Loot from enemies.
  • Bloodbags – Craft health potions. Dropped by Leeches and Draugrs.
  • Coins – Used to unlock Crypt gates. Found in chests.
