Unturned is a popular survival sandbox game where players must scavenge for supplies and defend against zombies. As the name suggests, zombies are a core part of the Unturned experience. While zombies spawn naturally, players can also manually spawn and summon zombies using console commands or mods.
Table of Contents
Enabling Cheats and the Console
To spawn zombies manually, you first need to enable cheats and the developer console:
- From the main menu, select “Host Game” to start a local singleplayer game.
- Once loaded in, press the Home key to open the menu and click the “Settings” icon.
- Check the box next to “Enable Cheats” to activate cheats.
- Close the menu and press the F1, F2, or F3 key (depending on your keyboard) to open the console.
Spawning Zombies
With cheats and the console enabled, you can now spawn zombies:
- Type “spawnzombie” and press Enter to spawn a single zombie at your crosshairs.
- Add a number after the command, like “spawnzombie 10”, to spawn multiple zombies.
Here are some other useful spawn zombie commands:
- “spawnzombie cop” – Spawn a police zombie
- “spawnzombie nurse” – Spawn a nurse zombie
- “spawnzombie crawler” – Spawn a crawling zombie
- “spawnzombie giant” – Spawn a giant, tank zombie
Summoning Hordes
You can also summon entire zombie hordes with commands:
- Type “horde” to trigger a small zombie horde to attack your location.
- “horde medium”, “horde large”, or “horde massive” for bigger and more dangerous zombie swarms.
Configuring Hordes
To customize zombie hordes:
- Type “hordeconfig”.
- Adjust the Size, Density, and Frequency sliders.
- Size controls the number of zombies.
- Density is how close together they spawn.
- Frequency adjusts spawn rate.
- Click the checkmark to apply your custom settings.
Now when you summon hordes, they will match your custom configuration.
Spawning Zombies with Mods
There are also Unturned mods on the Steam Workshop that expand zombie spawning capabilities:
- Zombie Spawners – Manually place spawners that generate zombies.
- Custom Hordes – Create unique zombie hordes with custom speed, health, abilities, etc.
- Zombie Classes – Adds specialized zombie types like spitters, gas crawlers, giants, etc.
Browse the Steam Workshop and subscribe to zombie mods that suit your preferences.
Defending Against Zombies
Once you’ve summoned zombies, here are some tips to defend yourself:
- Get to high ground like rooftops where zombies have trouble reaching you.
- Use guns, grenades, and melee weapons to fight zombies. Go for headshots!
- Set up safehouses with fortifications like fences, traps, and turrets.
- Utilize vehicles to outrun hordes.
