As an independent contractor working for DoorDash, you don’t get traditional pay stubs. However, you can still access records of your earnings and payouts through the DoorDash app and website. Here’s what you need to know:
Table of Contents
Viewing Earnings in the DoorDash App
The easiest way to see your recent earnings is directly in the DoorDash driver app:
- Open the app and tap the menu icon in the upper left corner
- Select “Earnings”
- Here you will see earnings from the past 7 days as well as a summary of earnings, promotions, and tips
You can tap into each individual day to see a breakdown of earnings per order.
Limitations:
- The app only shows earnings history for the past 6 months
- There is no way to export or print records from the app
Viewing Full Earnings History on the Website
To see your full earnings history:
- Log into your DoorDash account on the website
- Under the “Earnings” tab, select “Payment History”
- Adjust the date range to view payout details for any time period
- Click the download icon to export your full payment history to a CSV file
Key Details Shown:
- Date, amount, and method for every payout
- Breakdown of pay types (base pay, promotions, tips, etc.) per order
Useful for:
- Tracking income over time
- Providing proof of income for loans, leases, etc.
Limitations:
- Does not include official tax forms
Viewing Weekly Financial Statements
Every Tuesday, DoorDash sends out a weekly financial statement by email. This includes:
- Number of orders received and accepted
- Adjusted sales, costs, commissions, and payout amount
- List of all payout transactions
To access past statements:
- Go to the Statements tab on DoorDash website
- Select statement date range
- Download statements to track weekly earnings
Useful for:
- Reconciling income on a weekly basis
- Noticing any accounting discrepancies
Limitations:
- Only shows high-level summaries, not individual order details
What About Tax Forms?
Since Dashers are independent contractors, DoorDash does not provide any tax forms like W-2s. Instead, you should receive a 1099-NEC summarizing your annual earnings.
Other options for tax documentation:
- Download your full annual payment history
- Use a tax software to help prepare 1099 filings
- Consult a tax professional for advice
Best Practices for Records
To make tax time easier as an independent Dasher:
- Track business expenses throughout the year
- Save all payment records from DoorDash
- Open a dedicated bank account for deposits
- Consider quarterly estimated tax payments
Maintaining your own accurate records is key to maximizing write-offs and deductions as a contractor.
