WhatsApp group can be a good source of information for small communities and families. But quite often we got ourselves added by someone to a strange group which sometimes contains spam messages. WhatsApp, by default, letting anyone add anyone to a group without having to add their number to the contact list beforehand.
This situation led to an annoying problem you might encounter almost every day. But fortunately, recent WhatsApp updates on privacy settings implement a function where you could select or completely block everyone from adding you to a WhatsApp group.
So, here is how you can enable the feature.
Before we go, make sure you are using the latest version of WhatsApp. For Android, it’s version 2.19.309 or later. For iPhone, it’s version 2.19.112 or later.
1. Launch WhatsApp and go to Settings.

2. Select Account.

3. Then, select Privacy.

4. Now, find Groups.

5. Since we are going to exclude everyone from adding you to a WhatsApp group, even the ones from a contact list, select My contacts except…

6. The trick is marking everyone in the contact list. Then, hit the confirm button.

7. Now, no one can add you to a WhatsApp group without your permission.

Some WhatsApp regions might get the option “Everyone” available. If that was your case, you can select it instead of “My contacts except…” to instantly stop everyone from adding you to a WhatsApp group. If someone added you, you will have three days to approve it. Otherwise, the invitation would be marked as rejected.
