Moto Z2 Force – How to Factory Reset and Wipe Device

Factory resetting your Moto Z2 Force clears all data, settings, and content from your phone and restores it to its original factory settings. This can be useful if you plan on selling or giving away your phone, or if you’re experiencing performance issues that a reset may help fix.

When to Factory Reset Your Moto Z2 Force

How to Factory Reset a Moto Z2 Force

You’ll need to access the Recovery menu to perform a factory reset. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Turn Off Your Phone

Start by fully powering off your phone:

  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off on the screen
  • Wait for your phone to fully power down

Step 2: Initiate Recovery Mode

Next, initiate Recovery mode:

  • Press and hold the Volume Down button
  • While still holding Volume Down, press and hold the Power button
  • Release only the Power button while still holding Volume Down
  • Use the volume buttons to scroll to “Recovery mode”
  • Press the Power button to select

You should see an Android figure lying down with an exclamation mark.

Step 3: Wipe Data and Reset

Now to wipe data and reset:

  • Use the volume buttons to scroll to “Wipe data/factory reset”
  • Press the Power button to select
  • Scroll down to “Yes — delete all user data”
  • Press Power to select
  • Highlight “Reboot system now”
  • Press Power to confirm and reboot

This will erase all data and reset your phone to factory default settings. Be patient; it can take several minutes for the reset process to complete. Your phone will automatically reboot a few times.

When finished, you’ll be greeted with a “Welcome” screen to set up your phone from scratch as if brand new.

  • Phone will be like brand new – A reset restores factory settings as if just purchased.
