Oppo A37 – How to Block and Filter Incoming Calls

The Oppo A37 allows you to block calls and messages from specific numbers to avoid unwanted communication. You can also enable call filtering to only allow calls from contacts or numbers in your exceptions list. Follow these steps to take control over the calls and messages you receive.

Blocking Calls and Messages

Blocking a number prevents any calls or text messages from reaching your device. Use call blocking to stop nuisance callers or numbers you never want to hear from.

Block a Number

  1. Open the Phone app and tap the More options icon (3 vertical dots)
  2. Select Settings > Blocked numbers
  3. Tap ADD A NUMBER
  4. Enter the phone number you want to block
  5. Tap BLOCK

The number will now be added to your blocked numbers list. Any calls or messages from this number will be automatically rejected.

Block a Contact

  1. Open the Contacts app
  2. Tap the contact you want to block
  3. Tap the More options icon (3 vertical dots)
  4. Select Block contact
  5. Confirm the block by tapping BLOCK when prompted

This will block all numbers associated with that contact.

Unblock a Number

  1. Open Settings > Blocked numbers
  2. Tap the red minus icon next to the number
  3. Confirm by tapping UNBLOCK when prompted

The number will be removed from your blocked list so calls and messages can come through again.

Enabling Call Filtering

Call filtering gives you more options for managing incoming calls. Instead of completely blocking a number, you can filter calls so they go straight to voicemail or allow calls only from certain contacts or numbers.

Send Unknown Numbers to Voicemail

  1. Open the Phone app
  2. Tap More options (3 vertical dots) > Settings
  3. Toggle “Unknown contacts to voicemail” on

With this enabled, any call not from a contact will go straight to voicemail instead of ringing. You can then check the voicemails and return any calls you want to respond to.

Allow Calls Only from Contacts

  1. Open the Phone app
  2. Tap More options (3 vertical dots) > Settings
  3. Toggle “Only contacts may call me” on

This will reject any calls not from someone in your contacts list. Friends and family who you have saved as contacts will still be able to reach you.

Create an Exceptions List

You can limit calls to just contacts and specific numbers by making an exceptions list:

  1. Open the Phone app
  2. Tap More options (3 vertical dots) > Settings
  3. Toggle “Only contacts may call me” on
  4. Tap Exceptions list
  5. Tap ADD A NUMBER
  6. Enter any numbers you want to allow calls from
  7. Tap SAVE when finished

With this setup, only your contacts and the numbers in your exceptions list can successfully call you. All other numbers will hear an automated message that you aren’t accepting their call.

Additional Tips

  • Check your call history and voicemail periodically for important calls you may have missed from unknown numbers. You can then add the number to your contacts or exceptions list if needed.
  • Inform friends and family if you have enabled call filtering and give them the option to identify their calls so you don’t miss them. Many calling apps allow users to set a custom caller ID.
  • Disable call filtering when expecting important calls from numbers not in your contacts, like doctors’ offices, schools, or delivery services. Don’t forget to re-enable it afterwards.
  • Try enabling “Do Not Disturb” mode if you don’t want ANY calls for a set period. This sends all calls directly to voicemail so your phone never rings.
